Gentle Pain Release Center Therapist Biographies
Maryann Butchko-Bearley, OTR-L
B.S., Occupational Therapy
University of Pittsburgh, 1991
Maryann grew up in Pennsylvania, attended college, and completed her residencies in Cleveland, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She then worked in Latrobe, Pennsylvania; South Laguna, California; Indianapolis, Indiana; Huntington Beach, California; Medford, Oregon; and Santa Clarita, California. She has now settled down in Asheville. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places as a single person, and then as she and her artist husband followed his work. They want their three children to grow up here in our beautiful mountains.
Maryann was dissatisfied with traditional therapy settings, as she saw people with chronic pain failing to get significantly better. She kept feeling that there had to be better help for them. Having been injured in a car accident, she knew and understood the pain, stress, and frustration they endured. Then she discovered the manual therapies (such as those used at the Gentle Pain Release® Center) and knew that they held the answers she had been seeking. Maryann herself was able to return to work, to exercise, and to all the leisure activities she loved. Now she helps others do the same.
Maryann enjoys yoga, walking, hiking, and doing all sorts of things with her children. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious!
